What I am actually good at

The short version, and the facts a booker checks before the pictures.

I started at twenty-four, which in this business is late, and I started because a friend needed a body for a pattern-cutting class and nobody else in the room was a 16. I have been standing still for pattern cutters ever since, and I have come to like it more than the parts of the job that photograph well.

Most weeks are denim, cotton basics and lingerie for brands who genuinely cut above a 14 rather than grading a size 8 upward and hoping. I can feel the difference across the shoulder before I get the second arm in, and I say so. Two clients have rebuilt a block off notes I gave them in a showroom, which I am prouder of than any of the editorial.

The editorial I do because it is the part that surprises me. Cold dunes, empty flats, a runway in Antwerp in a floor-length column that was absolutely not cut for me and looked like it was. I live in Amsterdam-West, I swim in the Amstel all year round including the stupid months, and I keep every fit note in a red notebook that I will not photograph for anyone.

The work I take

Five things, and I am honest about which of them I am best at.

Editorial

Magazine and supplement stories, one to three days, usually on location and usually in weather. I bring my own thermals and I do not complain on camera.

Campaign

Brand campaigns and lookbooks with usage attached. Territory, term and rate are agreed by the agency before I say yes to anything at all.

Runway and presentation

Shows in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Copenhagen and London. I fit a UK 16 sample, I walk clean, and I can hold a still presentation for an hour without wobbling.

Fit and showroom

Standing for hours while a pattern cutter argues with a sleeve. The least glamorous thing I do, and the thing brands book me back for.

E-commerce

Studio days on white, sixty to a hundred and twenty looks. Fast, quiet, no drama - and I will tell you before lunch if a size run is lying to you.

How current are the digitals?

Taken 4 March 2026 and reshot every three months. If the set on this page is older than that by the time you read it, ask Zand for the current one - they will have it before I do.

Q.02

Do you travel?

Yes. Dutch passport, so most of Europe is a train ride and the rest is a visa I already hold. Travel days and overnights are billed by the agency, not negotiated on set.

Q.03

What sample size do you fit?

UK 16, EU 44, US 12. Bust 104, waist 88, hips 114. I can wear a 14 in something cut generously, and I will tell you that before the day rather than during it.

Q.04

Can I book you directly?

Write to me and I will read it, genuinely. The confirmation, the contract and the invoice all go through the agency - that is what they are for and it protects both of us.

Q.05

How far ahead do you book up?

Editorial usually two to four weeks out, campaign and e-commerce closer to six. Fit and showroom days I can often take at a few days' notice.

Q.06

Do you do beauty and hands?

Beauty yes. Hands no - there is someone two floors up who is far better at it, and I will happily pass on the number instead of wasting your morning.
